Embassy Message

December 5, 2001. The embassy would like to remind all Americans visiting or residing in Bahrain that the Worldwide Caution released by the State Department on October 23 remains in effect. In addition, the State Department issued a supplementary caution for the Middle East on November 9, reiterating the need for increased security awareness.  There are no specific threats against Americans in Bahrain, but tensions in the region have increased.  Americans are reminded that they should maintain a low public profile, avoid large crowds and demonstrations, vary their routes and times, and treat mail from unfamiliar sources with suspicion. For the full text of the State Department's current travel advisories, please visit www.travel.state.gov.  Recorded information may be heard by calling the State Department in Washington, D.C. at (202) 647-5225.
